Lío Mehiel — Actor, activist, filmmaker

Lío Mehiel hired me to help them get off the sidelines and into bigger games as an actor. We took a leap of faith: I needed a place to stay and Lío wanted a guide. We bartered coaching for six weeks of housing. It worked.

Lío’s film got funded, got into Sundance, won awards… and put Lío in the spotlight with it. Lío Mehiel became the first trans actor in Sundance Film Festival history to win Best Dramatic Actor. They continued to be a badass, winning more awards that mean more to industry people, they booked work, fell in love with their person, and deepened their activism work along the way.

I like this story because it’s honest. I do struggle that much with existing in a body. And I do believe that miracles are among nature’s most natural fruits, when we lead with love and step boldly into the unknown with little more than trust, surrender, and commitment holstered by our sides. This is how we dance in the dark.

Anonymous Ohio Guy

Anonymous Ohio Guy hired me to help him figure out who he wanted to be when he grew up (his words). Through our work together, he felt closer to God, he self-sabotaged less, and he held down a great job for longer than he had prior.

He became a momentary millionaire when his company went public, which helped him step from his higher self — investing in land to help families be safe in nature. He also learned an important lesson about his lower self (“I shouldn’t have bought the ‘vette.”). Nevertheless, it was interesting to us both that after years of tilling the literal and allegorical soil to build a safe space for families, there was an enormous chemical spill in Ohio when a train derailed.

I like this story because he followed his own inner compass towards God, building land like he was Noah building an arc. When the first flood came, he was ready. I also like that he wrote one of my favorite testimonials (“I thought she was nuts. But she was the same kind of nuts as me, so I hired her…”). Everything goes.

And lo! Another Anonymous Soul

Feeling like an absolute legend after not one but two engagements fell through, Anonymous Wedded Woman took a chance on working with the village loon (me) to see if we could shift a vibe. To our mutual delight: we could, and we did.

When we started working together, she met two men she could see herself marrying. While she embraced a personalized edition of the Bachelorette franchise (and I grabbed my popcorn, honestly just amazed my autistic ass was along for the ride), we unwound the layers of things that came up when we follow our heart’s true leanings. Long story short: she picked a winner, got a dog, and got hitched last fall.

I like this story because my client got to experience a profound amount of choice in a space where she’d previously felt less elegantly treated. She wound up with two strong options, sifting and sorting and metabolizing the experiences in ways that helped her come home to herself. It was a blast, and it still makes me smile.
